Stellantis Customer Digital Factory, Poissy
I had the opportunity to join PSA’s online configurator team in Poissy. The configurator is a web platform that allows visitors to design their own vehicle down to the finest details.
The website’s purpose is to help customers explore PSA’s vehicle range, select available options, review financing details, and ultimately support their purchase decision.
How might we create an immersive configuration journey that truly addresses user needs and facilitates decision-making?
How can digital tools simplify the complexity of purchasing a new vehicle and provide real value to end users?
The configuration journey needed to seamlessly connect with other PSA services while streamlining the research and purchase process. The ambition was to deliver a single, unified configurator for each Stellantis brand, adapted across multiple languages and currencies.
As a UX designer, my responsibility was to anticipate and shape the configuration experience alongside the Customer Experience team, Product Owners, and brand representatives. Balancing business requirements, market trends, and user needs, I worked to ensure an optimal digital journey.
I collaborated within a multidisciplinary team of Product Owners, UX researchers, UI designers, and Front-End developers — each contributing their expertise.
Throughout the process, we analyzed every feature from three perspectives: business viability, user perception, and technical feasibility. With the support of UX researchers, we kept end users at the center by relying on personas and validating our designs through multiple rounds of user testing.
My main communication tools were high-fidelity wireframes. To accelerate the design workflow, I created a Configurator UX Design Kit based on atomic design principles, which allowed me to quickly and efficiently build screens for desktop, tablet, and mobile.
One of my major contributions was the complete redesign of the “Design Step” — a key moment in the journey where users customize their vehicle (colors, rims, seats, etc.). The challenge was to make this step engaging and intuitive, turning customization into a playful yet structured experience.
After several design iterations and guerrilla testing sessions, we conducted lab-based user tests with final users to validate usability and satisfaction.
The results confirmed that our redesigned concept aligned with user expectations and was well received.
Once validated, I specified the final concepts for UI designers and Front-End developers, ensuring seamless implementation across devices and brands. This collaborative effort improved both the usability and enjoyment of the configurator, reinforcing its role as a key digital touchpoint in the Stellantis customer journey.
